Easter this year was landed on the same weekend as General Conference. On Saturday we got up and went to the Church to help clean. (Members of the different congregations take turns helping to clean the church building each week) The kids and I had started to go around and clean the doors, light switches, and tables when all of a sudden the electricity went out. The kids thought it was so weird to be in the church without the lights. Luckily the power came on toward the end and we were able to get the carpets vacuumed.

After we got home we settled in on the couch to watch General Conference. On Sunday we had a quiet time at home with the kids. We watched the morning session, and then I was super tired. Brandt suggested that I go for a walk instead of taking a nap. It was a cool day so I went out with a couple of the kids for a walk. Xander loved picking all the dandelions and trying to blow them.
Scarlet is now able to sit up by herself!
Covey seems to be getting more allergies to the pollen. He has been sneezing a lot after going outside. One day after coming home from school, he sneezed and then said “Mom, when is this pollen going to go away! It is making my nose drool!” I cracked up. He has said that several times now.
I brought Covey and Phoenix into the ENT. Covey had his 6 week surgery post-op and Phoenix had his normal 6 month check up on his tubes. Covey looks great and is completely recovered now. Phoenix has now lost both of the tubes from his ears. As the doctor puts it, they are parolees now and don’t need to go back unless they have a problem. While I was in there Scarlet started digging in her ear. She was still very happy, and was eating and sleeping well. It wasn’t to a point where I would even consider taking her to the doctor, but since I was there I thought I’d see if he would look and see if there was a reason she was doing that. He looked and her ear was infected… So she went onto another round of antibiotics. We are hoping that since it is warming up and we are getting out of flu season that we will be able to keep her healthy and bypass needing tubes with her.
Also at this checkup they also tested Phoenix’s hearing. He is almost two and a half years old and he will only say “mama” and “Ah”. No matter what I do right now, he won’t talk, and he is starting to throw big temper tantrums when we don’t understand him. I was a little nervous because he initially failed part of the test, but then they did two more tests and passed them. So good news – he can hear – he just doesn’t talk yet.
While we were there Covey said something that he thought was a joke, but could have really been taken wrong… While the doctor was talking to me about Phoenix ears Covey looked up at him smiling and said “Come on Dr. McFadden, you’re wasting my recess time.” Luckily Dr. Mcfadden is nice and laid back, and just laughed and took it in stride. I talked to Covey later about how that can come across more as rude than funny. Although I do have to say I thought it was funny hearing that come out of my quiet Covey.
