This month has absolutely flown by. I can’t believe how fast the time has gone. Granted Brandt was gone for almost 2 weeks on a business trip to Utah, and that made things a little more crazy at home. While he was gone Grandma Barb came into town to help me out. We stayed plenty busy, and had places to go everyday. I will probably post more on that later.
This past two week have been a roller coaster. Right before Mothers day Jerrica came down with strep throat. Two days before that I had a stomach bug, and 2 of the other kids had colds. Why can my family not pick one illness at a time??? The pediatrician joked that maybe we should postpone mothers day to the next week… That night Brandt got sick too. However Mothers day did end up being very enjoyable. Brandt made me breakfast in bed (Eggs Benedict) then he stayed home from church with the sick kids. That day ended up being nice and relaxing with all of us taking naps. 🙂
This week is the last week of school for the kids. On Monday I spent 2 hours at the school. First I attended Jerrica’s award ceremony and class party.
She made the A-B honor roll for the year.
She was so excited to show Scarlet her desk at school.
Here is Jerrica and her 1st grade teacher.
Next on Monday I went to Xander’s award ceremony.
He made the all A Honor roll. He was very excited about that.
He was different than Jerrica. Instead of wanting to show me all around his room he just showed me the cursive he was working on, had me take a picture of him and his teacher, and then he was done.
Here he is with his 2nd grade teacher.
Also on Monday I hit a new point in my pregnancy. So far I had had no back pain during my pregnancy. During Xander’s award ceremony, I squatted down to put something in the stroller. That is right I was a good girl and squatted instead of bending. Unfortunately while I was down my back completely spasmed and locked up. There was no standing up from there. I just slowly tipped myself over on the cafeteria bench (glad it was so close or I would have been on the floor) and sat there for a good 10 minutes before I could move. Since then I have pain in my lower back again that goes from being annoyingly there, to “I can’t even move” depending on what the baby is doing. Here is hoping it is a brief time, and then I will be ok again.
Next on Wednesday was Jerrica’s 7th birthday. We didn’t do the main celebration because it was a crazy week day and we will be celebrating more this weekend with her. However she did wake up to balloons hanging from her bedroom door, yummy chocolate zucchini bread muffins for breakfast, and Daddy even came home early to make homemade pizza for her before pack meeting that night.
I also had Covey’s award ceremony .
Covey made the A-B Honor roll for the year. We are really excited because he started off the year struggling, and has come so far.
In class he got the “Most improved” and “Super Reader” awards. His classmates voted him the “Best behaved” student.

Pictures of him and his 3 different teachers. (One was out on Maternity leave for part of the year.
Wednesday afternoon I took Scarlet (and the 4 other kids because they were home from school) to the pediatrician’s office. Scarlet had woken up with more bumps on her skin that had appeared over night. She normally suffers from chronic eczema, but this was different. On her hands it almost looked like little bug bites – almost like she had gotten in an ant hill.
Scarlet around 9am on Wednesday
The doctor looked her over and she had Hand Foot and Mouth, and impetigo. Unfortunately she was more likely to get it because she was exposed to strep from her sister. Also her chronic exzema is making it much more sever for her. She is now on antibiotics to help prevent this from going into a staph infection since some of the areas were already getting infected by yesterday afternoon. Today she is in much more pain, but luckily ibuprofen is helping tremendously.
Scarlet at 9am Thursday morning.
