I was talking on the phone to my friend Charsty. (all of my kids know her) Covey was sitting next to me, and out of the blue said “Mom, can you ask Miss Charsty if she is small for her age?” I started laughing. Covey was very confused and asked why that was funny. I explained that you don’t normally ask a question like that about an adult because you quit growing after a certain age. We decided to take it as Covey’s way of saying she is skinny. LOL!!!

Phoenix is going though a stage right now where he basically NEVER wants to eat dinner. He will eat breakfast and lunch just fine, but will try to go to bed at 6pm just to get out of dinner. On Friday night I was cooking dinner, and was browning some sausage on the stove. (BTW he loves sausage on Pizza) He walked into the kitchen and asked what I was making. I replied that I was cooking sausage. He looked at me and said “Oh… I don like sausage” and continued walking away. I sighed and replied, “I know you don’t like lots of things.” He looked at me, tilted his head to the side and thought for a second. Then he said “Yeah.. I know I don’t like lots of things…” and walked away.

Covey is super excited to try to get into the National Honor Society. Honestly I pretty much ignored the papers that they sent home from school with him. I mean seriously, it is only 4th grade. However on the due date his teacher personally called me and asked me to bring in the papers. I then talked to her about it, and decided to go ahead. When I got to the school I called Covey to the front desk. He didn’t seem interested until I told him the type of things he would be doing (Such as hanging artwork on the hallways at school etc.) then he started beaming from ear to ear. Found out that he was accepted and will have an induction ceremony soon. He is excited.

Easter this year was fairly laid back – except in preparation. I had the brilliant idea to make the girls Easter dresses this year. I am not the best at sewing clothes. It took many hours, and many phone call to my mom and sister but I finally finished the dresses around midnight on Friday before Easter. On Saturday morning Jerrica came in my room and saw it done. She was so excited to try it on! She jumped up and down with excitement when I told her she could. Unfortunately after she tried it on, she spent the next hour and a half telling me how it didn’t fit quite right.. or how I must not have measured her… etc. I bit my tongue for most of it, but even Brandt was getting annoyed and told her to be polite. Then while I was switching the laundry she came into the room and sat down. She watched me for a minute and then said “Um… so mom… would it hurt your feelings if I just wore the dress to church on sunday and then never wore it again?”
I turned to her and told her she didn’t have to wear it at all. She spent the rest of the day trying to earn back the chance of wearing the dress. I have to admit though – I felt a little smug anytime a friend of hers told her they liked her dress and she would get excited.

Scarlet on the other hand loved her dress and danced around in it all day. She was upset that I wouldn’t let her wear it every day.

Also on Easter Sunday I gave a talk in Sacrament meeting on the Garden of Gethsemane. I get so nervous speaking in front of people that I was pretty stressed out. All in all though, it went well.

After church we went over to Brandt’s sisters house and had dinner with the family. The kids got to have an easter egg hunt outside, and had a blast hanging out with cousins.
